Trey Amos, a.k.a fiveminusdeuce, is a multidisciplinary artist from Nashville, TN. Trey’s creativity is rooted in storytelling. From a young age, he fell in love with language & sound. Trey studied Journalism & Creative Writing (WKU) and briefly relocated to Chicago in 2012. Through performance and community engagement, he connected with SF-based youth nonprofit Youth Speaks. In 2014, Trey was one of two fellows awarded 2-year residencies mentoring youth 13-19 through writing across the Bay Area. In this role, he facilitated multiple weekly workshops within the San Francisco & Oakland Unified School Districts as well as his own work publicly. Trey’s workshops have also traveled nationally, expanding his ability to connect with various demographics.

Since then, Trey has curated programming and activations at the Oakland Museum of California (RESPECT: Hip-Hop Style & Wisdom), SFJazz, The Battery Club, the Nourse Theater, Marin Headlands for the Arts, The Bridge Yard, Frank Ogawa Plaza, Fault Radio, and more. In 2016, he co-founded Oakland-based agency Oakhella and served as its Experience Director until his departure in October 2025. From 2017 to 2022, Trey helped curate talent and staging with Black Joy Parade. In 2022, he took over as Co-Director, and solo-curated the 2025 iteration (its largest audience to date). Now ready for new challenges and endeavors, Trey is embarking on building his own imprint. Welcome to CBT Productions.

He is a published poet (Button Poetry, Blues Arrival Anthology, Foglifter Anthology) international DJ, and, most notably to him, an uncle.
